A Magical Birthday

Wow! I can't believe it's the end of another month, and the kids are headed back to school again. I find it amazing how life seems to fly by now. Pretty soon I will be back at the rink with hockey and skating.

Today's card is designed based on this week's Mojo Monday sketch #256

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqYUP15_xEcf9dcMrWZ5fCZJKs4YevKlIvWylY-aPm_UMHooRtzrb_xP4T2EKcoZ0e0BQwqiXOVj3ge-yKjj-Y8B6prCjLRmHualtLzVYYAxiArUt42FWGUzcq6w4BqQkPs-ajjsuOaOZw/s1600/Mojo256Sketch.gif

And I made this card for a friend of mine who was having a birthday this week and she is a HUGE Disney fan! I hope you like it.

Terryfic Tips:
  • When using an overlay, try to attach it to your project behind other layers so it isn't noticeable.

  • Mat your glimmer paper to "ground" it.

Stamp Sets:   Word Play (Wood-Mount 120308 Clear-Mount 120651)
Paper:  Whisper White (100730), Basic Black (121045), Red Glimmer Paper (121790), Night & Day DSP (Retired)

A Christmas Gift For You

I just had an experience a few moments ago with someone who was selling a product. The item had a price sticker on it (in the picture) and someone was interested in it but did not notice the price, so asked how much. I was also interested and had noticed the price. I posted that I would take the item if the first buyer did not. The seller then came back and quoted a higher price. I could be wrong about the situation, but my take on it is that the seller increased the price because she had more interest. Personally, I am not willing to give my money to someone who would do that. If the seller was legitimately selling the item at the higher price then why leave the sticker with the lower price in the picture. So I posted that I had seen the original price and I was no longer interested. I am interested to hear your thoughts. How would you feel about a situation like this?  Has this ever happened to you?

Today's project is a cute little carrier. Which as luck would have it, someone actually named it Cute Carrier. Not sure if it has another name, but the project is cute none the less. I thought that it would be perfect for those Coffee gift cards that we all give as gifts at Christmas. There are several variations that I can think of for it, which makes it a great project in my opinion. And because I made a Christmas one, it fits in nicely with this week's Playing in Paradise challenge. Oh, and by the way, the holder also includes a small decorated cup inside which I hadn't finished when I took the picture.

Social Media

So I'm sitting here watching the news and a story comes on about a teenage girl here in Calgary who has cancer. When she was diagnosed, she started tweeting about how things were going and how she was feeling. All of the feedback and encouragement she has received has helped her to stay positive and strong. And it's not only from people like you and me, but hockey superstars too. She is very passionate about her hockey and she has even scheduled her chemo around hockey tryouts. I found the story very inspirational and I love how people can feel/do positive things through social media. I hope that you will follow this inspirational young woman  @CuzIHaveCancer

Today's card has a more vintage feel to it. I used the Everything Eleanor and French Foliage stamp sets.

Terryfic Tips:
  • lay a strip of Sticky Strip adhesive where you would like your ribbon to sit. Then gather the Ribbon along the Sticky Strip pressing down in the hollows to adhere.

Stamp Sets:   French Foliage (Wood-Mount 120845 Clear-Mount 12116), Everything Eleanor (Wood-Mount 124162, Clear-Mount 124164)
Paper:  Very Vanilla (101650), Early Espresso (119686)
Ink:  Crumb Cake (126975), Early Espresso (126974), Rose Red (126954)
Cool Tools:   Paper Snips (103579)
The Perfect Touch:  Crochet Trim (118481), Pearls (119247), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Sticky Strip (104294)

I love my community

Another weekend over... and it seemed like a quick one too.
You know, I love where I live. There is always something going on. And even though I may not always be a participant, it's nice to know that my community cares. Take Sunday for example... The Hair Lounge, a small business here, has a hair cutting event every once in awhile, where the cost is only $10 and the proceeds go to a local charity. This weekend happened to be the food bank. I wasn't able to get to the event today because I had some other things going on but like I said, I am proud to know that even the smallest business care. And that's why I love it here. I hope that you live in a community that you love.

Today's card is actually once again last week's Mojo Monday sketch #255. I always seem to be a week behind lately.
I used some colors that frankly I wouldn't normally use and I think it turned out pretty good.

Here's the sketch

And here is my card.....

 Terryfic Tips:
  • Cut out images and pop them up to give the card dimension
Stamp Sets:  Field Flowers (Wood-Mount 122760, Clear-Mount 122762), Layered Labels (Wood-Mount 127070, Clear-Mount 128033127072), French Script Background Stamp (Retired)

Ink:  Cherry Cobbler (126966), Early Espresso (126974), Daffodil Delight (126944)

Scentsational!

Hi all! Monday is always a hard day for me. It's always hard to give up the weekend life and get back to work. I wish I had something fabulous to talk about today unfortunately I'm too tired to have any "fabulousness" LOL
So, let's move on to the card. Today's card is actually very similar in design to yesterdays.  Except that this card uses the new Scentsational Season Bundle. And I have to tell you, the Sugar and Spice embossing powder smells as good as I remember from the last time I used it!

 Terryfic Tips:
  • Round your corners to give your card softer edges
  • Fold your ribbon in half lengthwise and use your paper snips cutting up from the fold to the end to create the flag end
  • The new Scentsational Bundle comes with the framelit dies to match the stamp set, so it makes cutting out your stamped images so effortless
  • Use odd numbered embellishments - it is more pleasing to the eye
  • Don't forget to finish the inside of your card

Stamp Sets:  Scentsational Season Bundle (Wood-Mount 129945, Clear-Mount 129946), Greetings of the Season (Wood-Mount 128030, Clear-Mount 128033)
Paper:  Crumb Cake (120953), Very Vanilla (101650), Early Espresso (119686)
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler (126966), Early Espresso (126974)
Cool Tools:  Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976), Paper Snips (103579), Big Shot (113439), 3/16" Corner Rounder punch (119871), Heat Tool (129053)
The Perfect Touch:  Cherry Cobbler 1/2" Scallop Dots Ribbon (124138), Naturals Designer Buttons  (127554), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Glue Dots (103683), Sugar and Spice Embossing Powder (127829)

Mojo Monday #254

So it's Monday, and the start of a new week. I went with hubby and son to see the Expendables 2 on Friday night. I have to say it was probably the cheesiest movie with the most gratuitous violence that I have seen in awhile. Now that's not to say that it's a bad movie, it actually wasn't but I'm not sure that the flying blood splatter and body parts was necessary. In short, it was pretty much what I expected it to be. And it was fun to hear the audience reacting with laughter and applause at certain points. All in all it was a good night out.

So today's card was created using the Mojo Monday sketch. This sketch was actually last week's.

And here is my card.... It was actually inspired by a card made by a fellow demonstrator.
I started out with the sketch and it turned out looking nothing like it! LOL

Check it out!.... Canadian Scrapbooker magazine and Christy Riopel are featuring the Simply Scored tool! The new Fall 2012 edition of Canadian Scrapbooker is shipping now!

  • Create your own Shimmer Spray ; Take a Stampin' Spritzer and fill 3/4 full with Rubbing Alcohol. Add some Shimmer Paint.
  • Stamp your flower three times and cut in various layers to create a dimensional flower.
  • Carry your design over into the inside of the card to finish it off.

Stamp Sets:  Everything Eleanor (Wood-Mount 124162, Clear-Mount 124164)
Paper:  Crumb Cake (120953), Very Vanilla (101650)
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler (126966), Crumb Cake (126975), Early Espresso (126974)

Zombie Cup

Hi ho all! It's Friday! (well it's Friday when you are reading this but it's actually still Thursday) Time to get some creating done today. I haven't been feeling great this week so I have to say that my posts have been infrequent and unplanned. And I haven't made anything. So that's going to change today.

I have been thinking a lot about the community that I live in and today I noticed a Facebook post about an upcoming event. Zombie Cup. What's a Zombie Cup?... that's what I wanted to know. So here's the link. I think it sounds like fun! I may just have to go and check it out and of course support a great cause at the same time.

Another thing I noticed today was that a friend of mine posted on Facebook about things she loves THIS thursday. I thought that was an interesting idea. And a good thing to look at the positive. So today I would like to share what I love about THIS Friday.... A nap in the afternoon when I'm just not feeling like myself, a piece of ice cream cake from DQ left over from Brandon's birthday yesterday, a night of TV on the couch with the family (except for Brandon of course, who is rarely home anymore).  So what do you love about THIS friday? I would love to hear your thoughts.

So enough about me... today's post is twofold... the first part I wanted to share a photo frame that I had hanging around that I decorated. It is now just waiting for a couple of pictures. The flowers were made using ribbon.

and the second part of today's post is to share a great video with you about the new MDS2 program from Stampin' Up! this is a really great program and I hope that you will check out the video. So easy to use and so many creative possibilities. You can actually check My Digital Studio for FREE for 30 days to see if you like it. Just click here

And there is also two weeks left to get in on the 31 Days of Savings, which you can find all the details about here.

Have a great weekend!

Mojo Monday #253

It is vacation day #3! Nice sunny day, and I am looking forward to getting some outside stuff done. And Blair is finishing up my barnboard furniture.

Today's card is my take on this week's Mojo Monday sketch. I used the new Ornament Keepsakes stamp set, Early Espresso Tulle, Candlelight Christmas DSP.
