Banners!

Hey there Bloggers! Hope you are all doing well and had a good weekend.
I heard some sad news for the industry last week.... Creative Memories parent company has filed for Chapter 11. This is apparently the second time in five years. It is too bad when scrapbooking companies are unable to sustain themselves. There has also been a merger within the scrapbooking world recently too with Tonic Studios and Purple Cows.
And in other news.... Stampin' Up! will be announcing the 2013 retired list on April 24. So if you don't receive my emails, make sure that you sign up so that you can receive a copy of the list as soon as it is released. And don't forget that these items will sell out very quickly so place your orders immediately.

Today's project is a card that we made for Stamper's Club last week. We used the new Designer Typeset Photopolymer stamp set. The card we made was actually CASE'D from Jenny

So here is the card....

Take Time

Hey there bloggers! It's Monday again, and another busy weeks begins.
I have realized lately...not that I didn't know it before...but I think it has hit home more recently...that we all need to take time to enjoy the people that we love or the hobbies that we love. I have so much stress in my life lately and my the people I love are the ones who make me smile when I think things are at their worst. And one of the things lately that makes me smile is my husband and daughter punching each other when they see yellow cars. It's become the funniest game, because they are both craning their necks as far as they can whenever we pass a side road to see who can see a yellow car first. Today my husband and I went to Walmart and he was taking a picture in the parking lot and I couldn't figure out what he was doing... it was two yellow cars parked in front of us. I'm not sure that counts! LOL

Last week I had a really nice Stamper's Club. I felt that it was fun and relaxed and I had a good time teaching the projects. One of those projects was a card that had been featured at the Stampin' Up! Regional event that I attended at the beginning of March. It had a very simple technique of using sponging to create a border and card elements. It turns out that it was a WOW technique because it was so simple but not really thought of.

here is our card...

Stamp Sets:   Clockworks (Wood Mount 127290, Clear Mount 127292)
Paper:  Whisper White (100730), Island Indigo (122923), Basic Grey (121044)

Watercolor Pencils

Hi Ho Bloggers! I apologize for being MIA recently. Things have been a little upside down lately. I promise to try and post whenever I can.

Last night was my monthly Stamper's Club and one of my customers asked me about how to use water color pencils.
So now I am posing the question to you.... how do you use your watercolor pencils? Post some ideas or links to your creations here!
I told her that next month I will feature them at our club meeting so I will hopefully have some samples for you all too!

Water Dribble Technique

Spring is the time for new beginnings...and I am hoping that this year will be no exception. I am very much interested in new opportunities this year. Now...for the spring part...if only that were true...it has been miserable here for the last few days and it's not looking much better for the rest of the week.

So today's technique share is a technique that I presented to my Stamper's Club last month. It is called a Water Dribble technique and it's such a simple way to create a cool background.
Take a piece of cardstock and sprinkle water from your fingers onto it. Then take a very large clear block and brayer ink all over it. Place your water dribbled cardstock upside down onto the clear block and brayer over the back of it to ink it. And voila! The original technique can be found here.
So here is my card....

I would love it if you would leave a comment below sharing your favorite simple background technique...

Valentine's Card

HI Bloggers! Well, the week is half over and it's been another busy one.
I had my monthly stamper's club a couple of weeks ago, and once again it was a great time. I showed you the notebook that we made here and today I want to show you the Valentine's card.
Do you make Valentine's projects? A card for your husband? Treats for your kids to take to school?
I have to admit that the last few years I haven't really made anything. My kids are older now so Valentines Day really isn't a big deal in my house.

Well, here's the card.. and the technique that we used on this card was the Flip Down Stack Card.

Enjoy!

Organization

So one of my priorities for the year is to be more organized. And to that end I started re-organizing my workshop. Why is it that it seems like re-organization makes more of a mess than the mess that you started with? Well, here is the middle of my organization process...

I am just waiting for doors and a counter top for the cabinets. Blair happened to have had a bunch of cabinets that were going in the garbage... there isn't anything wrong with them, it just happens that they are custom sizes and they were made to the incorrect size so they can't be sold. Seemed odd to me that you would just get rid of them, but that's how his business works so I get lucky I suppose.
Anyway, hopefully counter and doors will be ready this week.

Now this area I have actually managed to clean up. And if you had seen my desk before now, you would definitely be impressed.

Happy New Year

Well, it's a brand new year and it's time for a re-start. Unfortunately I haven't kept up with posting recently but I am working on being more consistent.
This year my word is HAPPY. I don't do resolutions but my priority for the year is to remember that word and to put it into action. So everything that I do should be with the intention of being happy.

Today's project is a template that I found in My Digital Studio 2, and it was so simple, just drag and drop the picture. Now please don't laugh, the picture is from 1996.
if you are interested in finding out more about digital scrapbooking, email me. I will also be offering classes very soon for digital scrapbooking.
And don't forget that you can download a 30 Day Free Trial version of MDS.
