Money Holder

Hi Bloggers! How's the week going? Well, it was definitely Monday yesterday...and that's all I'm going to say about that...LOL

Elections today in the US. I know who I hope wins, not that I know a lot about American politics, but I still have an opinion. I would like to have a more informed opinion frankly so I can debate the merits of each candidate with others, but I have so much going on in my life that doing research on American election issues really doesn't rate that high at the moment. The one thing that I do believe is that no matter where you live, you need to exercise your right to vote because no everyone has that right.

Today's card is something that I will be doing for the Jingle Bell Card Creations class that I have coming up on Thursday night. It is a Money Holder card. Now I didn't come up with the concept but I thought it was pretty darn cute.
And there are only 2 spots left in Thursday's class if you would like to join us!

Terryfic Tips:
  • Generally when adhering a transparency try to hide the adhesive behind another element so it is not noticeable.

Stamp Sets:   Holidays & Wishes (Retired)

Christmas Wishes

Hey Bloggers! I hope that you all had a wonderful Halloween and enjoyed the trick or treaters that came to your door.
Today I was collecting the money at work for our Lotto ticket pool. This week's jackpot is $50 million. And of course it got me to thinking, "what would I do with $50 million". There is so much that I could think of, and so many people that I want to help. Are you a person that thinks about what you would do if you won the lottery? Other than the obvious, what would you do? I would love to hear your comments.

Today's card is A Very Merry Christmas, and it was actually a CASE'd card with some changes.

Terryfic Tips:
  • Ink the edges of elements on your project to create dimension.
  • Add different textures to your project to create interest and depth. Tearing, layering, embossing, satin, crochet, patterns.

Paper:  Whisper White (100730), Crumb Cake  (120953), Real Red (102482), Candlelight Christmas DSP (126901)

A Masculine Birthday

Hey Bloggers! Happy Halloween!
It's mid way through the week and I am very much looking forward to the weekend.

Today my daughter took a trip to the University of Alberta for a tour. Now she won't be attending for another year and a half but she is planning ahead. And she had a great time, and got a lot of information. It's so hard to believe that she is growing up so quickly.

Today's card is a masculine birthday card using the Open Sea stamp set. I started with a vision of what I wanted to create, and a plan to CASE a particular card with some changes to make it my own. And it didn't turn out anything like the original card. too funny!
I made the card for the Playing in Paradise challenge #90. Challenges are a great way to get some creativity going so I hope that you can all find your creativity too!

Terryfic Tips:
  • Ink the edges of elements on your project to create dimension.
  • Curl the edges of the flowers and ink them also to create dimension.

Stamp Sets:   The Open Sea (Wood-Mount 123030 Clear-Mount 123032)
Paper:  Whisper White (100730), Soft Suede (115318)
Ink:  Soft Suede (126978), Not Quite Navy (126971)
Cool Tools:   Paper Snips (103579), Apothecary Accents Framelits (127003),
2 1/2" Circle Punch (120906)
The Perfect Touch:  Metallic Brads (119741), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430),

Embossed Elegance

Hi Bloggers! Wow, it's been awhile. Unfortunately I have still been dealing with some back issues so I have been neglecting my blog.
But I'm back again. And I will hopefully be more consistent than I have been recently.
So, today's card is a card that I made for the Playing in Paradise Challenge. The challenge is to create a project that uses an Echo Effect. My echo effect is the watermark technique embossed flower background.

Enjoy!

A New Week

Hi Bloggers! Well, a new week is starting and it looks like it's going to be another busy one.
I started watching the Jeff Probst talk show a couple of weeks ago and there are some shows that have really got me thinking. A show last week featured a gentleman who didn't want to ask questions that he had regarding African Americans because he felt that they would be offended. Do you wonder about things but are afraid to ask? And what is the stigma about asking something that you don't know about... how else are you supposed to learn and become informed? I think that as long as you aren't trying to be offensive, I don't see why we don't make inquiries. Maybe this week I will step out of my comfort zone and ask something that I've always wanted to know.

So, on to the cards!!!! I am still not quite up to making too many projects so I want to share some projects that I found on the internet using the Everything Eleanor stamp set.

My first share is from Sandi and I just love what she has done with this card.

Everything Eleanor Stamp set by Stampin Up, card by Sandi MacIver

And the second card is from Lynda

I love this stamp set and I hope that you will check out some more samples and fall in love too!

The Positive Things

Hi Bloggers! I have been involved in a recent situation that really has me thinking about society and how people react to things.
So here's the background... Our family and some others made a recent decision to leave an organization that we had been a part of. This was not an easy decision but the circumstances really didn't leave us a lot of choice, especially if we wanted to feel good about ourselves. So we left and actually formed a new organization. We have just started and it has been a wonderfully positive experience for us all. We have enjoyed new friendships with other families that we knew a little or didn't really know, but we now feel like a big "family". And we have decided that this new beginning will be the start of something positive. This past week we have been notified of a complaint from the previous organization that we couldn't operate in the same town. We were forced to take down our facebook page and put a stop to an article that we had been writing for the local newspaper. I have also become aware of some personal rumors being started about one of our "family".
Now eventually this will be solved and we will move on. We are very confident about this. But I'm just digusted that we haven't even mentioned this previous organization and yet we are being attacked. And let me mention that there are children involved who are also being affected. And I just started to wonder about people who are so insecure that they need to tear others down in order to build themselves up (a weird coincidence that an article about them appeared in the paper and a new facebook page was created at the same time that ours was required to be taken down). I am teaching my children that in the end things will work out for us and we will forget about them and move on in the positive manner that was our intention to begin with. I hope that my situation can encourage others to live their own lives and build themselves up by positive energy and living a good life instead of creating discord.

Okay enough of me! Today's card is a small sneak peek at a card that I will be making with my Stamper's Club in October. I'm not going to show you the full card today but I will be unveiling it after my club. What a teaser! LOL

Stampin' Up Tulle

Hi all! It's been awhile....unfortunately I have had some back issues and have not been able to get downstairs into my craft room to create anything so I haven't been posting lately.
But I missed my bloggers! So I decided to post other ideas, other than my own that is. I thought it was a great way to get some fresh ideas and promote some products that you may not have put much thought into.

So today I wanted to focus on Tulle. I had a Jingle Bell Card Creations class recently and the ladies were almost scared to use it. They didn't know what to do with it. And it shouldn't be so intimidating because it's such a simple product and actually very versatile and easy to use.

So here are some cute ideas that I found showcasing the Stampin' Up Tulle from the Holiday Catalogue.

So my first share is from Celia. And I love what she did with the Tulle which showcases a very simple technique for using the Tulle, just gathering it behind an image.

Next up is Ann, who created this very cute rolled flower using the Tulle.

Ribbon Flower 60D Canon

And finally Kimberly, who created this great vintage style card by wrapping and tying the Tulle.

Kimberly Van Diepen Stampin' Up Demo

Okay so that's it for today. I hope that you have found some ideas to get you inspired. And I am placing an order this weekend so email me to order your Tulle so you can start playing!

Spring Color Trends

Pantone has announced it's color trend forcast for 2013 and Stampin' Up is right on track!

Colors like Midnight Muse, Wisteria Wonder, and Lucky Limeade seem to be the trend. The scrapbooking industry seems to be moving more towards the brighter colors also this year.

So pull out those color pallettes and start creating!
