A Masculine Birthday

Hey Bloggers! Happy Halloween!
It's mid way through the week and I am very much looking forward to the weekend.

Today my daughter took a trip to the University of Alberta for a tour. Now she won't be attending for another year and a half but she is planning ahead. And she had a great time, and got a lot of information. It's so hard to believe that she is growing up so quickly.

Today's card is a masculine birthday card using the Open Sea stamp set. I started with a vision of what I wanted to create, and a plan to CASE a particular card with some changes to make it my own. And it didn't turn out anything like the original card. too funny!
I made the card for the Playing in Paradise challenge #90. Challenges are a great way to get some creativity going so I hope that you can all find your creativity too!

Terryfic Tips:
  • Ink the edges of elements on your project to create dimension.
  • Curl the edges of the flowers and ink them also to create dimension.

New Kits? ...Awesome!

Yes.. that's right...Stampin' Up! is now offering kits!

And they want your kit ideas for upcoming kits. No, this is not a typo. They are starting up a new kit program especially for you. YOU will be the inspiration for the kits and YOU will vote to decide which project will be sold.
This is a great way to get the entire stamping community together. Start creating! Send us your kit ideas and get ready to vote for your favourites.

The Not-So-Fine Print
  • This program is available to both customers and demonstrators.
  • While your projects should not include retired products, they may include products not created by Stampin’ Up!, such as jars or frames.
  • Projects must fit into one of the following categories:
    • Holiday
    • Photo a Day
    • Thank you
    • Birthday
    • Party favour
  • Projects can be cards, scrapbook pages, home décor, holiday décor, birthday decorations, etc. If you can make it with Stampin’ Up! product, you can submit it!
  • Submit your projects by e-mail. Send an image (less than 2 MB), supply list, and instructions for creating the project to kitideas@stampinup.com. In the subject line, include the name of your project.
  • Please keep in mind that all submissions become the property of Stampin’ Up! once received. We reserve the right to change project elements, the name or any feature to make the kit easy to reproduce.
  • What’s in it for you? Glad you asked! Those who submit the winning kit will:
    • See it – your photo, name and project will be posted online.
    • Flaunt it – you’ll receive “blog badge” for your personal blog or website.
    • Spend it – you wouldn’t be a winner without a $125 Stampin’ Up! shopping spree.
  • That’s not all! Those whose submissions are in the top 20 will also receive product used in the winning kit or a $35 shopping spree of their own.
And here is the first kit, that was submitted by someone just like you, and voted on by someone just like you.... so why can't this be you?

Oh my goodness, it's finally the end of the week. It's been a busy one!
So Wednesday was the first meeting of the new Stamper's Club for this year. They were all awesome and we had a great time.
So I promised a while ago when I posted a teaser of one of the cards that after the stamper's club I would post the whole thing.... so here it is....

Embossed Elegance

Hi Bloggers! Wow, it's been awhile. Unfortunately I have still been dealing with some back issues so I have been neglecting my blog.
But I'm back again. And I will hopefully be more consistent than I have been recently.
So, today's card is a card that I made for the Playing in Paradise Challenge. The challenge is to create a project that uses an Echo Effect. My echo effect is the watermark technique embossed flower background.

Enjoy!

A New Week

Hi Bloggers! Well, a new week is starting and it looks like it's going to be another busy one.
I started watching the Jeff Probst talk show a couple of weeks ago and there are some shows that have really got me thinking. A show last week featured a gentleman who didn't want to ask questions that he had regarding African Americans because he felt that they would be offended. Do you wonder about things but are afraid to ask? And what is the stigma about asking something that you don't know about... how else are you supposed to learn and become informed? I think that as long as you aren't trying to be offensive, I don't see why we don't make inquiries. Maybe this week I will step out of my comfort zone and ask something that I've always wanted to know.

So, on to the cards!!!! I am still not quite up to making too many projects so I want to share some projects that I found on the internet using the Everything Eleanor stamp set.

My first share is from Sandi and I just love what she has done with this card.

And the second card is from Lynda

I love this stamp set and I hope that you will check out some more samples and fall in love too!
