File Folder Card

Hey there Bloggers! Look at me go... 3 posts already this week!

Hope your week is going well.

Not much to report this week so far... I went to my son's first hockey game of the season on Sunday and we won. And tonight my daughter is attending another Career Fair at school. I can't believe how fast my kids are growing up.

So today's card is a File Folder Card and co-ordinating envelope. Once again it is a project that we did for this month's Stamper's Club. My inspiration for the card came from Patti Bennett. Her file folder card was actually sealed and had an insert but I wanted mine to open like a card would so here it is..... (BTW I also had to use some retired DSP as I didn't have any current stuff)

Christmas Gift Holder

Hey there bloggers! It's been awhile again since I've been able to post.  Unfortunately working
9.5 hour days does that. There isn't much energy left for creativity. But I will be trying to make more of an effort.

So, back in the spring I saw the new Envelope Punch Board when the new CHA products were being released to the distributors. And to be honest I thought... why do I need this? I don't really have any interest in making my own envelopes, it so much easier just to buy them. Once it arrived at work I wasn't able to keep in stock. But I still didn't see the need for one. Then Stampin' Up! announced a partnership with the manufacturer and we would be carrying them also. So I thought... Well I should probably have one so I can be informed when my customers ask me about them. So I bought one.

Then I saw a project online and I was so excited! I made a few envelopes, and some file folder cards, and it was so easy to use. I started to get  a little more interested. And then it happened... my Ah-Ha moment.... I saw this awesome chocolate treat holder online and I was soooo excited! I couldn't wait to try it out. I have to give credit to Janet Wakeland who created the original project.

So I made one for my Stamper's Club project and everyone was wowed. Unfortunately I didn't have any current Christmas DSP so I used some retired items. Here it is, enjoy!

Flashback Friday

Hey there Bloggers! TGIF!
Do you have big plans for the weekend? I do....cleaning my house! I will be doing some fall cleaning this weekend, yay! Not the most exciting thing in the world but it has to be done. So I will crank up the tunes and get some stuff done

So.... It's Flashback Friday! and I would like to feature a card that I made a while ago using some retired stamps and punches.

This card features the Silhouette Sentiements stamp set that was released in the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue. The side of the card is also punched with the retired Spiral Punch to give it an interesting effect.

Hello To You

Hey there bloggers! For today's post I wanted to share the cards that I created with My Paper Pumpkin Kit. This kit was called "Hello To You" and came in June (I know, it's September now!)

So the first card is the one based on the Paper Pumpkin instructions.

And my next two cards are the ones that I created on my own. The second card below actually uses the painter's tape technique. These are very simple cards but they definitely have a wow factor.
I hope you enjoy!!

Color Challenge

Hey there Bloggers! It's been a while since I've been able to post.
Today's card is for Stampin' Up! CSI FB Group Color Challenge...

For this card I used some Embossing Paste with the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder. I'm not sure if you can tell in the picture but it gives it some texture as well as dimension.

Tip of the Week

Hey there Bloggers! I have a tip of the week for you....

Blank card?

Take about 5-10 minutes and cut up some inserts for your cards in both Vanilla and White.
Then go to your computer and find your favorite website with quotes (or in my case your favorite book). Find a quote that you like for Birthdays.
Then go into your Word program and open a new blank page. Go to page set up and create a custom paper size that is approximately 4 x 5 1/4" that will fit the inside of the card. Save that size as 'Card Insert'. Now type out your quote and choose a font that fits it. Once you are done, Print the quote onto your cut up inserts. Print 2-3 on white and 2-3 on Vanilla. Then go back to your word document and change the orientation to landscape. Center it properly and print again as above.
Now you have 12 inserts that will fit into either direction of card and you can choose Vanilla or White. Separate each orientation and clip both the white and vanilla together for that direction, this will make them easier to grab later.

Now what do you do with them you ask?
I found a small file folder wallet at Walmart for a few dollars.

Label each section accordingly ie: Birthday humorous, Birthday fancy, Thank you, Etc.

Then put your paper clipped quotes into the appropriate section and voila... when you need an insert for your card you just choose the one you want and glue it in.

Stamped with Water

Hey there Bloggers! Today's project features a very cool technique...stamping with water!

So this a card that I made based on a card that I saw on the Hero Art's blog. It is such a simple technique...
Sponge layers of ink onto Glossy Cardstock. Then "ink" your image using water on a paper towel. Stamp the image into the sponged ink and voila.....

Jots & Thoughts

Happy Wednesday Bloggers! Have you seen the Try It Kit from Paper Pumpkin?

Today's project are my two journals from the Jots & Thoughts kit. The first journal was made according to the directions. The second journal was my stepped up version.
On the second journal I used the Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Flower Trim and a pin that one of my Stamper's Club members brought as a gift for everyone on the month that she was hostess.

Enjoy!

Swallowtail

Hey there bloggers! Today's post is a card that I made for my Stamper's Club last week but it was actually CASE'd from Sami

Basically you are stamping your image onto Vellum with Staz On Ink. Then you are masking the butterfly on a piece of white cardstock underneath using the negative image. You are filling in the image using a sponge dauber and ink. Then you attach the vellum over top of the inked area and your sponged color will show through the stamped image. And I really like the idea of attaching your vellum by folding it under the cardstock.

Don't forget that the 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! Catalogue goes live on May 31 so make sure you email me today to get your copy!

Seriously!?

Hey there bloggers! Well, it's finally Friday... and I am looking forward to some really nice weather finally.
So, if you haven't heard, the new Stampin' Up! catalogue will be live on May 31. And I have to say that I am very excited. I have a pre-order that has shipped and it includes a copy of the new catalogue.... woohoo! I can't wait to see Mr Brown at my door.

So in my job and also with Stampin' Up! I am definitely noticing a trend this year. And that trend is Eastern/bohemian. And the Washi Tape trend continues too. I think that you will all like the new offerings this year too, Eastern or otherwise.

Today's project share is my creations for the Paper Pumpkin April kit. Seriously!? A lot of people are not fans of this kit, but I think that if you are thinking outside of the box (ha ha, the paper pumpkin red box) then you will find a way to use these stamps/accessories.

So, the first card is using the instructions as they are set out.

and the next items are two cards and a post it note holder made by thinking "outside the box"

Lattice Edge

Hey there Bloggers! It's Wednesday and that means only 2 more days to go until the weekend. And I can't wait for Saturday, because my favorite team the Calgary Roughnecks will be playing for the Western Division Championships in lacrosse.

Today's card is one that we made at our April Stamper's Club meeting. It has a Lattice Fold on the inside edge and then the lattice was inked. It looks very cool in person and is actually really easy to make.

Enjoy!

Spring Flowers

Hey there Bloggers! I hope that you enjoyed your weekend and are all ready for the beginning of a new week.
It's been another busy week for me. My kids participated in a fundraising event at their school called Ride of the Mustangs. The fundraiser was a 48 hour stationary bike ride to raise money for the Children's Hospital Oncology unit. This was the third annual event and it was as successful as past years... this year the kids raised an amazing $132,000. As a parent I am very proud of all the kids. I have to say the kids were exhausted.
Saturday we went to the Airdrie Home & Garden Show (which I was not a participant in this year), went to the Roughnecks game, and saw some of Blair's relatives that we hadn't seen in 6 years. Sunday everyone went to Comic Con and I stayed home and did some creating. I will be showing you the projects that I made using April's Paper Pumpkin kit later on in the week.

So today's project is a card that I made because I finally wanted to try out Delicate Details Lace Tape. Another one of those things that I buy but just never seem to get around to using. There are a lot of uses for this product including as a mask for inking or spritzing. I decided to use it as is. I also used some Pink Paislee butterflies that I had on hand and Tea For Two DSP.

Enjoy!

My Paper Pumpkin

Hey there bloggers! So I apologize for taking so long to post my creations from the Welcome Kit of Paper Pumpkin. I haven't had much time for creating and my Stamper's Club projects took precedence. so here my Paper Pumpkin kit sat.....

Then, I finally got around to playing with my kit... the first card is the card that you create with the instructions....

And the other three projects are what you create when you think outside of the "red box"

The bottle was created using a recycled Prima flower bottle. I got the idea for using the recycled bottle from the Scrapbooker's Paradise Playing in Paradise Challenge. And voila!

And I have April's kit to play with now... so stay tuned!!

Banners!

Hey there Bloggers! Hope you are all doing well and had a good weekend.
I heard some sad news for the industry last week.... Creative Memories parent company has filed for Chapter 11. This is apparently the second time in five years. It is too bad when scrapbooking companies are unable to sustain themselves. There has also been a merger within the scrapbooking world recently too with Tonic Studios and Purple Cows.
And in other news.... Stampin' Up! will be announcing the 2013 retired list on April 24. So if you don't receive my emails, make sure that you sign up so that you can receive a copy of the list as soon as it is released. And don't forget that these items will sell out very quickly so place your orders immediately.

Today's project is a card that we made for Stamper's Club last week. We used the new Designer Typeset Photopolymer stamp set. The card we made was actually CASE'D from Jenny

Take Time

Hey there bloggers! It's Monday again, and another busy weeks begins.
I have realized lately...not that I didn't know it before...but I think it has hit home more recently...that we all need to take time to enjoy the people that we love or the hobbies that we love. I have so much stress in my life lately and my the people I love are the ones who make me smile when I think things are at their worst. And one of the things lately that makes me smile is my husband and daughter punching each other when they see yellow cars. It's become the funniest game, because they are both craning their necks as far as they can whenever we pass a side road to see who can see a yellow car first. Today my husband and I went to Walmart and he was taking a picture in the parking lot and I couldn't figure out what he was doing... it was two yellow cars parked in front of us. I'm not sure that counts! LOL

Last week I had a really nice Stamper's Club. I felt that it was fun and relaxed and I had a good time teaching the projects. One of those projects was a card that had been featured at the Stampin' Up! Regional event that I attended at the beginning of March. It had a very simple technique of using sponging to create a border and card elements. It turns out that it was a WOW technique because it was so simple but not really thought of.

here is our card...

Stamp Sets:   Clockworks (Wood Mount 127290, Clear Mount 127292)
Paper:  Whisper White (100730), Island Indigo (122923), Basic Grey (121044)
Ink:  Island Indigo (122937), Basic Grey (126981), Gumball Green (126861), Gumball Green Ink Refill (126855)
Cool Tools:   Paper Snips (103579), 1" Circle Punch (119868),  Sponge Daubers (102892), Stampin Spritzer (126185)
The Perfect Touch:  Island Indigo Baker's Twine (125575), Naturals Designer Buttons (127554)

Watercolor Pencils

Hi Ho Bloggers! I apologize for being MIA recently. Things have been a little upside down lately. I promise to try and post whenever I can.

Last night was my monthly Stamper's Club and one of my customers asked me about how to use water color pencils.
So now I am posing the question to you.... how do you use your watercolor pencils? Post some ideas or links to your creations here!
I told her that next month I will feature them at our club meeting so I will hopefully have some samples for you all too!
